How to split PDF files

In Parse & Pack, "splitting" isn't just about cutting a file every 10 pages. It's about logically separating content based on your unique needs.

Logical Splitting

Instead of specifying page ranges like "1-5" and "6-10", you can use natural language:

  • By Topic: "Split this exam paper into two PDFs: one for Section A and one for Section B."
  • By Difficulty: "Create one PDF for multiple choice and another for long-answer questions."
  • By Chapter: "Upload a textbook and get separate PDFs for Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 3."

The "Categorization" Method

The most powerful way to split a PDF is using categories. In your prompt, simply define the buckets you want:

"Categorize the pages into: 'Calculus Questions' and 'Algebra Questions'. Ignore any pages that don't fit these two topics."

Parse & Pack will process the entire file and generate two separate downloads for you, each containing the relevant pages.

Handling Batch Splits

If you upload multiple files at once, you can still split them into unified categories. For example, if you upload 10 different exam papers, you can tell Parse & Pack to "split all questions into 'Multiple Choice' and 'Theory' across all documents." You'll receive just two cleanly split PDFs.
